Firefighter, Sacramento County Airport Fire

Under general supervision Firefighter, controls and extinguishes fires; rescues persons endangered by aircraft crash or fire, or by structural fire; prevents fire by reducing or eliminating potential fire hazards; responds to and provides assistance for medical aid calls, vehicle accidents, and Hazmat incidents.

Sacramento County Airport Fire is an operational ALS provider. Incumbents may also be eligible for a 10% Paramedic Pay incentive.

This is a continuous filing exam. The filing cut-offs are at 5:00 pm on: 9/2/26, 9/16/26, 10/2/26, 11/6/26, 12/3/26 (final).

All candidates meeting the minimum qualifications by the cut-off date will have their Supplemental Questionnaire scored in the Formula Rate Examination. This examination will evaluate the relevance, level, recency, progression and quality of candidate's education, training and experience.

Requirements: Current and valid EMT or Paramedic certificate/license (National Registry or California EMSA); Completion of Fire Academy (ALA or ARTP) or valid California Firefighter I Certificate; California Driver License Class C or higher at appointment; Firefighter Endorsement from California DMV within 12 months; Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) within 12 months; Air Operations Area driver permit within 12 months; California Firefighter I Certificate within 9 months; Valid EMT certificate maintained; CPAT Certificate within 12 months prior to closing date (may be waived for current full-time firefighters); 40-hour Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting training per FAR Part 139; Annual recurrent training per FAR 139.319; Airport security badge required; Physical ability to perform duties while wearing PPE

Salary: $92,331.36 - $112,230.00 Annually
