Fire Engineer, Sacramento County Airport Fire

Under general supervision, the Fire Engineer, Sacramento County Airport Fire drives assigned fire apparatus and other automotive equipment to scenes of emergencies; operates fire pumps, aerial devices, and other Fire Department equipment; performs inspection, preventative maintenance and minor repairs of Fire Department apparatus and equipment; assists in controlling and extinguishing fires; rescues persons endangered by aircraft crash or fire, or by structural fire; prevents fire by reducing or eliminating potential fire hazards; responds to and provides assistance for medical aid calls, vehicle accidents, and Hazmat incidents.

Sacramento County Airport Fire is an operational ALS provider. Incumbents may also be eligible for a 10% Paramedic Pay incentive.

This is a continuous filing exam. The filing cut-offs are at 5:00 pm on: 9/2/26, 9/16/26, 10/2/26, 11/6/26, 12/3/26 (final)

40-Hour Salary: $53.66 - $59.16 /hour (based on a standard biweekly 80-hour work week). 24-Hour Salary: $38.33 - $42.26/hour (based on a Special 24-hour biweekly 112-hour work week).

Probationary period: six (6) months.

Requirements: Current and valid EMT or Paramedic certificate/license (National Registry or California EMSA); Two years full-time paid firefighting experience; Valid California OSFM Driver Operator 1A and 1B Certificate (or equivalent from DoD, IFSAC, or Pro Board); Valid California Driver License Class C or higher required at appointment; Firefighter Endorsement from California DMV required within 6 months; EVOC completion within 6 months; Air Operations Area driver permit required within 6 months; CPAT Certificate issued within 12 months prior to closing date (waived for current full-time firefighters or higher); Airport security badge required prior to appointment

Salary: $112,042.08 - $123,526.08 Annually
