Fire Captain, Sacramento County Airport Fire

Under direction, the Fire Captain, Sacramento County Airport Fire supervises, assigns, reviews, and participates in the work of staff responsible for preventing, controlling, and extinguishing fires; rescuing persons endangered by aircraft crash and fire or structural fire; responds to and provides assistance for medical aid calls, vehicle accidents, and Hazmat incidents. While providing supervision to a single crew, incumbents ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures, and performs the more technical and complex tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility.

Sacramento County Airport Fire is an operational ALS provider. Incumbents may also be eligible for a 10% Paramedic Pay incentive.

This is a continuous filing exam with filing cut-offs at 5:00 pm on: 9/2/26, 9/16/26, 10/2/26, 11/6/26, 12/3/26 (final).

Qualified applicants must complete and submit an online County of Sacramento employment application by 5:00 PM on the posted cut-off date. All candidates meeting the minimum qualifications by the final filing date will have their Supplemental Questionnaire scored in the Formula Rate Examination.

Requirements: Current and valid EMT or Paramedic certificate/license from National Registry or California EMSA; Four years full-time paid firefighting experience; Valid California OSFM Driver Operator 1A and 1B Certificate; Valid California OSFM Fire Officer Certificate, Company Officer Certificate, or equivalent (or completion of current Company Officer curriculum); Valid California Driver License Class C or higher; Firefighter Endorsement from California DMV within 6 months of appointment; Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) within 6 months; Air Operations Area driver permit within 6 months; CPAT Certificate within last 12 months (waived for current full-time firefighters); Uniform and personal protective equipment required; Airport security badge required; Probationary period of 6 months

Salary: $123,192.00 - $135,824.40 Annually
