Entry Firefighter (Recruit)

JOB OBJECTIVE: To protect the lives and property of citizens of Little Rock by responding to calls for firefighting or emergency rescue assistance.

This position is designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

Please note the salary adjusts to a 56 Hour rate when recruits graduate ($51,513.28)

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: Accepting online applications only. Application and supplemental questions required by closing date. All communication regarding application status will be sent to candidates via text message/email address listed on account. A confirmation notice will be sent to the applicant's email address once the application has been submitted.

SELECTION PROCESS:
STEP #1 - APPLICATION AND ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must submit applications and supplemental information questions on-line. Supplemental questions will be used for eligibility screening for job requirements.
STEP #2 - WRITTEN EXAM: Scheduling notices will be sent via email to all eligible candidates. The written exams will be conducted the October 17th, 30th, and November 14th. Location: Willie Hinton Neighborhood Resource Center.
Step #3 - PHYSICAL AGILITY TESTING: Candidates who pass the written exam will be eligible for the Physical Agility testing and will be notified via email. Testing will be administered at LRFD Training the week of December 7th-11th, 2026.
Step #4 - STRUCTURED INTERVIEWS: Interviews will be administered the month of February 2027.
Step #5 - ELIGIBLE LIST: Candidates that successfully complete all steps of the hiring process will be placed on an eligible list ranked by composite score. These rankings will be used to select the candidates for the 2027 Fire Academy, tentative to begin March/April 2027.

Requirements: U.S. citizenship, at least 21 years old by March 1, 2027, valid Arkansas Class D Driver's License, high school diploma or G.E.D., willing and able to obtain Arkansas EMT license within 12 months

Salary: $25.31 Hourly
