This position participates in the work of an assigned fire company in responding to emergency and non-emergency calls. Guidelines include department standard operating procedures, city ordinances, NFPA recommended standards, local, state and federal laws. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application. The work consists of related emergency response, fire suppression and fire prevention duties. Respond to fire, medical and other emergency calls for service. Perform activities to suppress and extinguish fires. Extricate individuals from dangerous and hazardous situations. Assess emergency medical needs and provide treatment. Clean and maintain fire station buildings, grounds, apparatus and equipment. Attend and participate in company drills and training. Participate in physical fitness training. Perform hose and pump tests. Test fire hydrants. Maintain knowledge of city streets and geography. Perform related duties.





Qualifications
Minimum age to apply is 18 years of age. Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level associated with the completion of high school or the equivalent. Must possess a valid Georgia Driver?s License. Knowledge of computers and job related software programs. Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions. Skill in the preparation of clear and precise administrative reports. Skill in oral and written communication. Hiring process to include: One day of physical, written and skills testing, Background Investigation, Oral Board Interview, Physical Examination, Drug and Alcohol Screening.
