Requirements

The Position:
? Ensures all equipment is working properly
? Responds to medical emergency incidents and provide care to critically ill and/or injured patients
? Assess the nature and extent of illness or injury and establish priority of required medical emergency care
? Stabilizes patients at emergency scenes
? Checks and maintains various firefighting equipment
? Responds to fire, emergency rescue and public ser- vice incidents
? Lay and connect hose lines, position nozzles to direct a proper stream of water on fires
? Operates engine pumping equipment as required
? Raises, lowers and climbs ladders
? Assists in conducting salvage and clean-up opera- tions
? Effectively operates all gas-powered tools, portable extinguishers, ladders and miscellaneous tools
? Assists in maintaining fire hydrants, hoses, automo- tive equipment, SCBA?s etc.
? Inspects buildings and properties for fire hazards
? Assists in the maintenance and orderly condition in and about the Fire Station
? Studies and participates in training sessions on Fire District rules and regulations, ALS, fire hazards, fire- fighting techniques and equipment, District geogra- phy and hydrant locations
? Participates in fire drills and exercises
? Receives and transmits radio and telephone messages
? Answers general questions from the public appropriately
? Other duties as assigned

MInimum Qualifications:
? Must be a minimum of 18 years of age at time of application
? Possession of a High School diploma or equivalency certificate
? Valid Class C drivers license and Ambulance drivers certificate. (Must submit a current DMV printout with application)
? Valid California Paramedic License
? Current ACLS, PALS and CPR
? California State Certified Firefighter 1, HAZ-MAT FRO, Confined Space Awareness
? Must pass medical evaluation and drug screen prior to appointment.
? Must be current in all state mandated training.
