The Estes Valley Fire Protection District ? located adjacent to Rocky Mountain National Park, CO is seeking a candidate with exceptional interpersonal and instructional skills to join our growing department. The Estes Valley has been protected since 1907 by a dedicated group of volunteers, supported by career staff since 2010.
The Estes Valley Fire Protection District provides an all hazards response for fire suppression, rescue, EMS, prevention, and public safety education. The District is a combination department comprised of five (5) full time (two suppression, two prevention, one administrative) and approximately 40 volunteer firefighters. The district serves approximately 12,000 residents in the winter and upwards of 80,000 in the summer in an area that encompass? over 66 square miles. The District has two stations and an annual budget of $1.8 million.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of administrative, technical, and supervisory work related to: new construction, plan reviews/inspection, code enforcement, and fire prevention. The Fire Marshal will also perform inspections, issue permits and order notices, and may perform follow up compliance and enforcement work. The Fire Marshal is the code enforcement officer for the District and establishes procedures, performs plan review, maintains records, tracks information, and prepares reports as required. As Division Chief of the Life Safety & Prevention Division, the Fire Marshal will oversee the District?s fire prevention program(s) and advise the Fire Chief on life safety and property conservation issues. The Fire Marshal oversees our Fire Inspector and is expected to coach and mentor that employee.
The successful candidate must possess demonstrated leadership, member relations, strategic planning, and budgetary skills together with a strong background in an integrated Fire and EMS Service. A minimum of: an Associate?s Degree in Fire Science Technology, 5 years of fire prevention related experience including plan reviews for new construction, ICC certification as an Inspector II and Plans Examiner. Candidate must be able to obtain the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, Fire Inspector III-Plans Examiner and Fire Suppression System Inspector certifications within three months of hire.
The salary for the position is $80,000-$100,000, with a starting salary of $80,000-$90,000 and is negotiable within range based upon experience and skills.
