The purpose of this position is to protect the lives and property of the community by providing fire and medical services. This is accomplished by utilizing skills in firefighting and medical activities, responding to fire, emergency and medical calls, completing fire suppression activities, providing patient care, operating fire and medical equipment and apparatus, maintaining firefighting and paramedic certifications and attending training sessions. Other duties may include performing preventative maintenance on fire and medical equipment and apparatus, assisting with fire station maintenance, completing medical and fire documentation, educating the community on fire safety and first aid procedures and interacting with other City employees and citizens. This position does not provide direction to other employees.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be one of the following:
A certified Firefighter and Paramedic
A certified Paramedic
A certified Firefighter in paramedic school in good standing with their program and within 3 months of graduation may also apply.
*Note ? certifications must be State of Texas or be eligible to obtain State of Texas certification
Must be a US Citizen and at least 18 years of age.
Valid Texas Driver?s License with safe driving record. Must be able to pass criminal background with no Class B Misdemeanors or above in the last 5 years.
No entry level written test will be given, Candidates will participate in a panel Interview.
Must complete a Personal History Statement prior to being interviewed.
Candidates must also pass a Physical Agility Test, Polygraph, Psychological Evaluation, Drug and Medical Screen, and Chief Interview.
