The City of La Habra Heights Fire Department is currently accepting applications for Part-time Paid Fire Captain. This is a company officer position managing all fire station activities and responding to 911 calls on a Type I Paramedic Engine in Los Angeles County. The La Habra Heights Fire Department is comprised of 90+ personnel, providing Fire and ALS 911 services to the community. La Habra Heights is a community of residential homes located entirely within an urban wildland intermix setting. The La Habra Heights Fire Department is the primary 911 provider for the city and surrounding auto/mutual aid areas within Los Angeles and Orange County.
Part Time Fire Captain?s work a flexible 24 hour schedule (0900-0900) of between 1-4 shifts per month with an opportunity to work additional shifts. Fire Captains manage the daily operations of the fire department including training and mentoring the next generation of firefighters. As a Fire Captain, you can expect to gain valuable knowledge and work experience in incident and personnel management. Fire Captains currently start at $16.00 per hour, and are limited to working 960 hours per year. Fire Captains are not eligible for city benefits.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum Qualifications -
- 5 years of career Firefighter, Engineer or Captain experience. Volunteer experience may also be considered.
- Hold a current certification as an EMT in California
- Have a valid CA Class C Driver?s License with a Firefighter Endorsement or Class A or B preferred
