Responds to fire alarms with a fire company and performs firefight?ing duties as assigned
Operates varied pieces of fire apparatus and equipment to extinguish fires
Ventilates burning buildings to eject smoke and gases
Performs salvage and cleanup operations at fire scenes
Rescues and removes persons from danger
Makes periodic inspections of buildings to locate fire hazards
Attends training sessions in such subjects such as firefighting and inspection methods, equipment operation and emergency medical treatment
Performs cleaning and maintenance tasks on department buildings and equipment
Performs hydrant maintenance
Performs other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Requires High School graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Licenses or Certifications: Completion of Firefighter II and Emergency Management Technician. Florida Certification as a Firefighter II. Emergency Vehicle Operators Course ? Fire apparatus and Wildland Urban Interface. Incident Command Systems ? 100, 200, 700 and 800.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
? Ability to gain knowledge of the street locations, geography and takes of construction in the City.
? Ability to gain knowledge of the various types of fire hazards of the City
? Knowledge and skill in the use of emergency medical treatment practices
? Knowledge of firefighting techniques, policies, procedures, and practices
? Ability to learn and perform many and varied firefighting techniques and procedures
? Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
? Ability to perform prolonged and arduous work under adverse conditions
? Ability to work at heights
? Ability to drive fire apparatus over the road safely under emergency conditions
? Skill in the use and maintenance of firefighting equipment
? Successful completion of all medical and fitness require?ments
