Capstone is hiring a Site Fire Chief for an Industrial Fire Operation in Thousand Oaks, California. We are interested in individuals that express a passion for firefighting and patient care combined with the drive to succeed and deliver high-quality service.

  Job Summary:  
The Site Fire Chief will be responsible for the management of a full-service Fire/EMS/Rescue emergency response organization. Directs planning, organization, budgeting, and control of assigned industrial facility in accordance with all company philosophies, strategies, goals, objectives, principles and procedures. Responsible for the supervision of all assigned personnel including scheduling, training staff, and participating in labor negotiations (if applicable). Responding to and directing emergency scenes, conducting prevention activities and completing special projects as assigned.


This position is based on a 40 hour per week work schedule.  This is considered a safety sensitive position and is subject to both the Company’s and the Client’s Industrial Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, which includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing and follow-up testing. 

Minimum Required Qualifications:   

  • Valid Driver’s License. 
  • Must possess AHA CPR/AED credentials.  
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, OR ten years related leadership/chief officer experience and training, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 10 years managing a field operations team preferably at a Chief Officer level.

Desired Qualifications:   

  • PROBOARD, IFSAC, and/or State Chief Officer certification/designation
  • Advanced fire service or management training such as NFA Executive Fire Officer program.
  • Proven ability to develop annual operating plans with clearly defined objectives and target markets.
  • Proven and consistent track record for meeting and exceeding P&L targets.
  • Proven knowledge of local, state and federal rules and regulations as applied to the fire and emergency service industry.
  • Proven knowledge of “best practices” information sources and organizations available to fire service leaders.

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Administers, abides by, and hold subordinates accountable for Company rules, regulations, policies, procedures, mission, guiding principles.
  • Conducts crew inspections, reviews reports, and investigates complaints to ensure compliance with Company policies, rules, procedures, and Human Resource laws and policies.
  • Maintains clear, timely, and accurate communications between company/customer management, administration staff, and personnel to ensure that services and support activities achieve company objectives, and contractual obligations.
  • Keeps superior officers adequately informed of challenges and proposes alternative solutions for consideration.
  • Assists the Division Chief in preparing the resources required to provide high level services.
  • Projects a positive image to individuals and groups, as professional, competent and helpful manager.
  • Prepares timely and accurate reports as assigned for the Division Chief regarding the work activities of their subordinates.
  • Assures that all personnel under their supervision are adequately trained and appropriately informed regarding duties and responsibilities.
  • Works as a team member within all company divisions, personnel, and activities.
  • Plans and oversees quality of the operations and field crews, including the monitoring of work standards, productively, quality, and service.
  • Provides technical assistance to Captains and staff in the completion of their work and personally handles or directs complex tasks or multi-crew projects.
  • Maintains a competent and motivated work force, with emphasis on first-line supervisor accountability, through work assignments, performance evaluation, counseling, training, and managing member performance improvement actions.
  • Maintains safety as the number one objective for all personnel. Enforces common safety standards and demonstrates that the belief is all accidents and injuries are preventable and unacceptable.
  • Identifies ways to improve and streamline operations, training, equipment, and maintenance programs, including the cost and benefit of possible improvements.
  • Assesses service delivery effectiveness and identifies challenges, such as the status of equipment, effects of training activities, training needs, and utilization of staffing in response to workload and takes corrective action in consultation with the Division Chief.
  • Communicates Company goals and objectives to all personnel under their supervision. Monitors the implementation of these goal and objectives for their work programs and takes corrective actions as necessary.
  • Maintains a high level of service and communication with the customer and/or representative. Directly assess job performance and possible job needs.
  • Monitor attendance according to policy and provide appropriate action when needed to maintain the standard.
  • Performs additional duties as required.
