THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Camp Hill is seeking an Institutional Fire Safety Specialist. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Institutional Fire Safety Specialist, you will administer the Fire Prevention and Safety Program, oversee the Fire Emergency Response Team (FERT), and provide program compliance reports. You will conduct inspections to evaluate programs, identify program deficiencies, and implement corrective action plans. You will also recommend equipment and systems upgrades, renovations, and additions. This role requires thorough knowledge of regulations, industry standards, and facility policies to develop program training and provide guidance to staff in the application of fire safety procedures. In addition, you will provide orientation to new employees and contract staff, participate as a causative member of the Safety Initiative Committee, and maintain licensure, inspection certifications, and testing records.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Three years of institution safety work, including one year of fire prevention and fire fighting work, and completion of two years of college; or
One year of institutional fire and safety work, and a bachelor's degree; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
