The Scarborough Fire Department is proud to announce a historic expansion—8 full-time positions have been approved as we rise to meet the growing demands of our vibrant and diverse community.
At one point in our history, Scarborough was home to Maine’s largest volunteer fire department, a force built on deep community pride and commitment. That same spirit led to a groundbreaking achievement—“Doc” Haigis founding the first staffed ambulance service in the state of Maine, right here in Scarborough. Now, we’re building on that legacy—and we’re looking for the next generation of firefighters to shape our future.
As the Scarborough community grows and changes, the Scarborough Fire Department is doing the same to meet the needs of protecting our residents and their property. If you want the opportunity to be a part of a Fire Service organization that will continue to grow and evolve over the course of your career, the Scarborough Fire Department may be a good fit for you. If you are highly motivated, passionate about our mission, and bring strong character, a love of the craft, and a desire to be a part of a special organization in a growing community, you may be a good fit for the Scarborough Fire Department.
