Fire Chief
1. Must be at least 18 years of age
2. Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
3. Must have a current Alaska Driver’s License or be able to obtain one 4. Must have a current American Heart Association CPR Certification 5. Ability to pass a physical fitness test
6. Ability to work competently in stressful or emergent situations
7. Must have or obtain all required immunizations
8. Must attend meetings and training, including regular duty schedule
Certification Requirements by Level:
1. Must have or be willing to obtain Firefighter certifications (FF-1, or FF-2)
2. EMT-1: Must hold or obtain Alaska EMT-1 Certification within six (6) months of hire 3. EMT-2: Must hold Alaska EMT-2 Certification
4. EMT-3: Must hold Alaska EMT-3 Certification
5. Paramedic: Must hold Alaska Paramedic License
DUTIES:
1. Provide patient care within the defined scope of practice for certification level 2. Operate fire and emergency medical equipment and drive ambulances
3. Maintain accurate patient care and incident documentation
4. Perform daily inspections of ambulance and medical equipment
5. Assist with cleaning and maintaining department facilities and vehicles 6. Communicate clearly in person, via phone, and over radio
7. Perform and/or assume other job- or work-related duties as assigned
