Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our emergency response team. This vital role involves providing immediate assistance during fires, accidents, and medical emergencies to ensure the safety and well-being of the community. The ideal candidate will possess strong emergency response skills, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. This full-time position offers an opportunity to serve the public while developing valuable skills in emergency management and medical care.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to fire alarms, medical emergencies, and rescue calls within designated areas.
  • Provide first aid, basic life support (BLS), CPR, and vital signs assessment to injured or ill individuals.
  • Operate firefighting equipment and vehicles safely during emergency responses.
  • Conduct rescue operations including extrication from vehicles or hazardous environments.
  • Perform heavy lifting and physical tasks required during rescue and firefighting activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness, inspection, and routine maintenance of firefighting apparatus and medical equipment.
  • Assist in training exercises and drills to ensure readiness for various emergency scenarios.
  • Document incident reports accurately and thoroughly following each call.
  • Collaborate with other emergency services personnel to coordinate effective response efforts.

Qualifications

  • Valid EMT certification with experience in emergency medical services preferred.
  • Certification in first aid, basic life support (BLS), and CPR required.
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or ability to obtain one is highly desirable.
  • Mechanical knowledge or experience with firefighting equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks regularly.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to assess vital signs accurately.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure in high-stress situations.
  • Prior experience as a firefighter or EMT is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for qualified candidates.
