Salary: $47.25 per hour, ($98,280/average annual compensation)
Work Hours: Monday through Friday 6:30 A.M – 4:30 P.M. with one (1) hour unpaid lunch)

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Regional Director and/or Citgo’s Emergency Planning and Response Manager, the Industrial Battalion Chief leads Rural Metro fire/EMS operations, training, and safety at the Citgo LCMC site. This role requires strong leadership, refinery experience, and a proactive, safety-first mindset. You'll serve as a liaison with client staff and ensure operational excellence across all shifts.
This is considered a safety sensitive position and is subject to both, the Company’s and the Citgo’s Industrial Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, which includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing and follow-up testing.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all services including fire response, training, EMS, and basic safety duties as outlined in the scope of work.
- Interact with client supervision and management for work assignment and other pertinent short- and long-term planning.
- Maintains a competent and motivated work force, with emphasis on first-line supervisor accountability, through work assignments, performance evaluation, counseling, training, and managing member performance improvement actions.
- Plans and oversees quality of the operations and field crews, including monitoring of work standards, productively, acceptable work quality and service.
- Incident command trained and has refinery experience acceptable to CITGO.
- Maintains clear, timely, and accurate communications between company/customer management, administration staff, and personnel to ensure that standby services and support activities achieve company objectives.
- Maintains safetyas the number one objective for all personnel. Enforces common safety standards and demonstrates that the belief that all accidents and injuries are preventable and unacceptable.
- Able to meet the physical requirements required to perform firefighting tasks.
- Remains skilled in and properly applies modern fire suppression tactics, methods, and procedures at training drills and emergency Incidents.
- Projects a positive attitude and image to the client as a fire service professional to meet the client’s needs.
- Works effectively in following policies and procedures.
- Performs additional duties as required.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- At time of Hire:
- Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Firefighter II (FF2) with HazMat-Operations
- LA EMT Basic or higher (Paramedic preferred)
- CPR/AED for the Healthcare Professional
- NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 at time of hire.
- Ability to obtain the certifications below within the indicated time frame
- Scott Airpack Service Technician Certificate (within 6 months of hire date)
- LA Boaters Education Card (within 6 months of hire date)
- Hazmat Technician (within 12 months of hire date)
- Fire Instructor I or higher (within 12 months of hire date)
- Fire Officer I or higher (within 12 months of hire date
- Rope Ops certification (within 12 months of hire date)
- NIMS 300, 400 (within 12 months of hire date)
