The Public Safety Systems Manager ensures the reliability, security, and performance of the systems and related platforms that support 911 dispatch and field operations. This role combines technical system administration with IT management responsibilities for Rural Metro Fire.
Position Essential Functions
● Lead public safety system projects from planning through implementation, including upgrades, integrations, and technology initiatives with defined timelines, budgets, and stakeholder coordination Administer, maintain, and support
● Administer, maintain, and support the CAD system used in 911 dispatch and field
operations.
● Monitor system performance, manage updates, and troubleshoot technical issues across
CAD, RMS, and related platforms.
● Ensure high availability, redundancy, and security for mission-critical applications and data.
● Coordinate with Vendor support and internal teams for system upgrades, patches, and
enhancements.
● Manage system user accounts, access controls, and permissions in compliance with
security standards (e.g., CJIS).
● Create, update, and maintain system documentation, process workflows, and technical
guides.
● Support CAD-related integrations, including mobile data terminals (MDTs), GIS/mapping
tools, AVL, and radio systems.
● Generate reports, data exports, and support analytics for operations and regulatory
compliance.
● Provide tiered technical support and on-call coverage for emergency issues as needed.
● Participate in planning and testing of business continuity and disaster recovery procedures.
Position Qualifications
Required:
● Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related
field (or equivalent experience).
● Minimum 3 years of experience supporting enterprise-level systems—preferably public
safety or emergency communications systems.
● Working knowledge of CentralSquare’s CAD platform or comparable CAD systems (e.g.,
Spillman, Hexagon, Motorola).
● Experience with Windows Server environments, SQL Server, and Active Directory.
● Understanding of networking concepts, system security, and software patching.
● Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred:
● Direct experience with CentralSquare CAD (formerly TriTech), including system
configuration and back-end administration.
● Familiarity with GIS data, ESRI tools, and AVL systems.
● Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, SQL scripts, etc.).
● Experience working in a 24/7 operational environment or emergency communications
center.
