High school diploma or GED. Two years of experience in inspection of firefighting equipment or personnel safety systems is required.
This position reports to the Logistical Services Division of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, Firefighter Personal Protective Equipment Program Coordinator. The incumbent in this position will be wearing full respiratory protection and nitrile gloves in a warm working environment throughout their entire shift. Additionally, lifting, moving, and processing large deliveries of Firefighting Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) with boxes that weigh in excess of fifty pounds. This position is also responsible for laundering contaminated Fire Fighting Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by using an industrial machine; performing advanced firefighting PPE inspection of garments and any needed minor repairs; transporting Firefighting PPE to and from fire stations; entering information in the computer database; sizing and issuing Firefighting PPE; and all other associated tasks and assignments as determined by the Logistical Services Division Chief and Firefighter Personal Protective Equipment Program Coordinator. The incumbent in this position will be exposed to contaminated Fire Fighting Protective Gear while wearing personal protective equipment including mandatory respiratory protection.
