ABOUT THIS POSITION
The City of Phoenix seeks qualified candidates for the Fire Protection Specialist II (New Construction) position. The Fire Prevention Specialist II inspects construction work in progress to ensure that the work is performed in compliance with approved plans, Phoenix Fire Code, and related requirements. Responsibilities include inspecting new installations of fire protection systems to include: fire alarms, sprinklers, firelines and special extinguishing systems. Specialists must evaluate the quality of these installations and require corrections be made when deficiencies are discovered. Specialists must work well with contractors and owners to provide decision-making requiring discretion, judgment, and familiarity with laws, codes, ordinances, regulations and standards.

The Planning and Development Department currently has one vacancy in the Inspections Division. This recruitment may be used by any department for any current or future vacancies over the life of the eligible list.

SALARY

$23.63 (minimum) - $34.72 (maximum) hourly / $49,150 - $72,218 annually. Appointment may be made above the minimum depending on qualifications.

Comprehensive benefits package includes: 11.5 paid holidays, 12 vacation days, 15 sick days, free bus/light rail pass, traditional pension and 457/401 plans, tuition reimbursement upon hire, choice of Blue Cross/Blue Shield or Cigna HMO, PPO. For more details, visit:

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Requires one of the following:

Two years of experience as a Fire Prevention Specialist I and ICC Certified Fire Inspector II certification; OR
Three years of experience as a Fire Prevention Specialist in another government or private entity along with ICC Certified Fire Inspector II certification or in a related field.
By the end of probation, must obtain the following certifications:

? ICC Fire Plans Examiner

AND

? ICC Fire Inspector II
